Kaneka OLED is a Japanese company making significant technological advancements in the organic LED lighting industry. Besides developing the technology, they also engage leading designers to create original and compelling lighting fixtures. Given Kaneka OLED’s unique place in an emerging market, they needed an identity that spoke to both the technology and design industry. Maiarelli Studio designed Kaneka OLED’s logo and visual identity and developed a strategy to break into the US market.
In 2016, Maiarelli Studio worked with Kaneka OLED to launch their first product, Kaneka Luce. After art directing the product photography, we developed print material and signage for the product’s debut at an installation commissioned by Kaneka OLED at the Museum of Arts and Design. In 2017, we worked with Kaneka to launch Kumiko, a decorative modular lighting system designed by Michiru Tanaka. Launched at an event in NoHo, Maiarelli Studio developed the product logo, brochure and signage.
